We got the official results that Cooper has a UTI. Meningitis is so far negative, and there's also no growth in the blood infection culture. They will make an "official" determination tonight on negative results, but it's very encouraging.
Cooper is anaemic, so today he started oral vitamins/minerals. They smell awful, but he's being a trooper and taking them. His potassium is high, but it could be an anomaly of the method they are using for the blood draw. So, this afternoon he had a venous blood draw. His electrolytes are borderline low, so they will keep testing until they're normal. We are waiting on a few more test results, but so far his progress is very encouraging.
This morning Cooper had a kidney ultrasound to make sure the kidneys look normal. We will get results on that tomorrow. Early next week he will have dye injected into his bladder to check function.
A HUGE thank you to Grandma, who drove in on Tuesday at midnight to stay with Tatum so Michael and I could be at the hospital with Cooper. She's been a great help--getting Tatum to and from school, washing bottles and baby clothes, etc, etc. Thanks, Mom!
Yesterday was my 39th birthday--not my idea of a fun day, but we still had a nice little party in the hospital room :)
Hoping all continues to go well,
Kirsta & Michael

Thanks for the new update and for the pictures. Glad Cooper is doing better, and that he is getting such good vibes from his brother and the rest of the family (me too!) We are thinking of you, and it is so nice to see you all smiling and even getting flowers for your birthday! Take good care of each other and especially my new nephew. Will check back soon. . .
